NQ Classic Wrap-Up: $531K in Prize Pools & Locals Taking Home CASH!

The NQ Classic at The Ville Resort-Casino has officially wrapped up, delivering six incredible days of poker action with a staggering $531,380 in total prize pools! Despite the challenges posed by Cyclone Alfred, the series brought out some of the best poker talent in the region, with local players shining throughout.

Here’s a look at the standout winners of the series!

🏆 NQ Classic Main Event Champion – Martin Boersma

Martin Boersma claimed the NQ Classic Main Event title in style, securing his second win of the series in just 24 hours!

Starting Day 2 with a 358,000-chip stack (9th overall), he battled his way to the final table, sitting second in chips. After an intense final stretch, Martin emerged victorious, taking home:

🥇 $29,675 + APL Million Seat + $100K Invitational Seat

Post-win, he shared a hilarious moment—he had pranked his partner, telling her he’d busted! We can’t wait to see her reaction when she sees the winner’s photo!

🥈 Robert Lewis - $18,515 + APLM Seat
🥉 Gregory Shillig - $11,295 + APLM Seat

🏆 Jackstar Super High Roller Champion – Anthony Russo

The Jackstar Super High Roller continues to be Anthony Russo’s playground! With five cashes in the last eight Jackstar events, he has now officially turned his deep runs into a trophy-winning performance.

The final table saw Tim Bredl dominate early, holding almost 70% of the chips three-handed. But Anthony showed resilience, turning things around to claim the win and a $23,175 payday plus a $100K Invitational Seat!

🔥 “When you’re running this hot, it’s important to capitalise and play as much as possible,” said Anthony after his win.

Final Placings:
🥈 Ridge Grimsey - $14,755
🥉 Tim Bredl - $9,835
4️⃣ Jackie Glazier - $7,730

🥇 Player of the Series – Sam Adams

He's back! Sam Adams put on a clinic, proving once again why he’s one of Australia’s best Player of the Series contenders.

After a hiatus from the Aussie poker scene, Sam returned with a bang—two event wins and multiple final tables secured him the Absolutely Dental POTS title with 2,100 points and a $7,380 prize!

It was a tight race with Matthew Ginn, who secured back-to-back POTS runner-up finishes after his performance at last October's Ville 600 Series. Sam praised Matt’s strong run, making the battle one to remember!

A huge thank you to Absolutely Dental and Dinesh Singham for their continued support of the APL in North Queensland.

A Big Thank You & What’s Next?

A massive thank you to The Ville Resort-Casino for once again providing an unforgettable poker experience—there’s truly no more relaxing place to play poker in Australia!
